Samsung Galaxy S9 Review And Specifications

It is true what they say: do not fix what does not break. And that’s what Samsung did for the Samsung Galaxy S9: it did not change what was already great, it only modified the specifications whenever possible. And it worked perfectly.

Modern is what we used to call the Samsung S8 and s7 design, but now the iconic crystal curves are just conventional. You see them shine on the cheapest smartphones, even in imitations, until you get to the current Samsung Galaxy S9 series. The form could be disappearing, but Samsung has managed to maintain its freshness for another year thanks to an impressive selection of colors.

There is a new set of chips, Snapdragon or Exynos, and regardless of which one ends up in the Samsung Galaxy S9, which is available in your region, it is enough to know that both work at the speed of light.

But the camera is where the company has pushed the envelope. With a variable aperture from f / 1.5 to f / 2.4, the Samsung Galaxy S9 should now be able to control the field either in broad daylight or after dark. We also appreciate recording 4K video at 60 fps and slow-motion clips at 960 fps with automatic motion detection.

There are even more settings that may not be as obvious, but you’d appreciate them once you start using the Samsung Galaxy S9. The high stereo speakers tuned by Harman, the first for the Galaxy S line, promise to surround sound with Dolby Atmos support. The combined recognition of fingerprints, faces, and irises for versatile unlocking seems to be something we need in all modern phones. There is more, of course, but before beginning this review, let’s go deeper into the specifications.

If the recent indications that float are reliable, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will send a design that has inspired so many people. Once it has a shape of the future, the Samsung Galaxy S9 has perfected everything in this body, including the position of the fingerprint sensor.

Samsung Galaxy S9 unboxing

The retail package of the Samsung Galaxy S9 should be an example of a flagship treatment and we hope that other manufacturers (a Cupertino-based company in particular) take note. Inside the case of the samsung Galaxy S9, you will find an appropriate charging socket (fast), a USB cable type C, a micro USB adapter to type C and USB to USB.

There is also high-quality internal headphones tuned in AKG with microphone included with the samsung Galaxy S9.

This complete accessory treatment is one of the things we expect other companies to adopt. There’s nothing sweeter than taking the phone out of the box and starting to use it immediately instead of shopping for adapters and cables.

Okay, we would also have appreciated a protective case, but we are pushing our luck, we know it.

From a design point of view, the Samsung Galaxy S9 is not a drastic change from last year’s Galaxy S8, but that’s more of a flaw in the limited number of directions the smartphone’s design can take instead of the electronics South Korean company.

Still, there’s no denying that the samsung Galaxy S9 itself is a pretty spectacular phone. Just look at the comments. Sure, it’s not a big step above its predecessor, but for many consumers who update annually, this will be their next phone.

It can be argued that the samsung  Galaxy S9 is a phone that corrects some of the errors of the Galaxy S8, in particular, the location of the fingerprint sensor, which is now under the camera instead of being on the side. But the most interesting feature of this new phone is its camera. The Galaxy S9 has a sensor with a variable aperture, which means it can change its aperture on the fly to allow more light to enter, as photographers would on DSLRs. In f / 1.5, both the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus have the largest aperture in a phone so far, surpassing the opening f / 1.6 of the LG V30.

In the specifications department, the phone obtains a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip, up to 6 GB of RAM, depending on the model, and up to 256 GB of integrated storage. This is a phone that will surely adore all Android fans. Oh, and it even has a headphone jack, which is a rarity these days.

Considering all the above, does the samsung  Galaxy S9 mobile deserve an update for users who already have an S8? What about those who seek to replace their old clumsy phones? Should they spend a fortune on a Galaxy S9 or look for a discounted Galaxy S8 instead? See some excerpts from reviews by several critics below:

Wired: “If you’re in last year’s Galaxy S8 or an iPhone 8, you will not get much from this phone, but if you’re fighting for something significantly older, the S9 will feel like a great improvement.”

The Verge: “The owners of the S8 probably do not need to update this device – the differences are not big enough to justify splurging on the S9 – but if you’re using a Galaxy S7 or any other phone two years ago, a moment ago, the S9 is a significant step forward in all aspects. ”

CNET: “The samsung Galaxy S9 is a good incremental upgrade, but its low-light camera does not change the game and some new features fall far behind the iPhone X. The owners of S8 may skip, but it’s a good upgrade to older Androids. ”

TechRadar: “The Samsung S9 is a great phone, but one that has not been fired from the Galaxy S8, bringing design and screen very similar to the 2017 version. The improvement of biometrics was essential, and the camera it’s a leap forward, but the incredible low-light capabilities have resulted in sacrifices elsewhere – a superior and superior phone, but the S9 Plus eclipses it. ”

BGR: “Samsung’s new Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + are impressive, to say the least, they pack a lot of energy into a wonderfully elegant design, although that design is a vivid image of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 +. Last year … It’s certainly not as exciting as seeing the launch of a flagship phone with a new design, but the Galaxy S8 and S8 + are still two of the most impressive smartphones in the world. If Apple can reuse its iPhone design 6 for four consecutive years, Samsung really cannot be criticized for reusing its Galaxy S8 design for the second time. ”

Samsung galaxy s9 release date and S9 Plus will be on March 16.
