PS4 Safe Mode: Stop Your Console From Starting Up Safe Mode

ps4 safe mode

Atimes choosing options that could change your console completely can be distressing, especially when the PlayStation Secure Mode has, not one, but two options for initialization. It is also possible that you have encountered the ps4 safe mode problem. Take a deep breath; we have some tips to get out of ps4 Safe Mode and return to your games and broadcasts!

What is PS4 Safe Mode?

First things first, let’s take a look at what this is so you can better understand why your PlayStation may be launching on it. The PS4 safe mode is the same Safe Mode option that your computer has. If your system does not start normally, then Safe Mode will start your console with some basic functions to help find a solution for your PS4 to work again. Also, if your PS4 is normally starting but has some problems, you can start these options yourself and see if the menu options can help solve them.

How To Enter PS4 Safe Mode

Note: Do not try to enter ps4 safe mode if your USB ports do not work. The steps to enter will require you to resynchronize your controller through the USB ports. Click here to see the options for your USB ports to work again before moving on.

  1. Start with your console off.
  2. Press and hold the power button until you hear two beeps: one when you press for the first time and another seven seconds later.
  3. Connect the DualShock 4 controller with the USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.

First choice options

If you activated your PlayStation and found this screen, you are trying to start in safe mode. Here we will let you know the different options you have to leave, and why these problems could be happening to you. Make sure you have a USB cable that allows data transfer to synchronize your controller. Most shippers already have this ability, but luckily you can find one on Amazon for $ 8.49 if you find that your cable does not work.

These are the options you want to try before anything else, since none of them has the risk of losing valuable data!

  • Using the Menu option to exit ps4 Safe Mode normally
  • Updating your system software
  • Disconnecting the console
  • Rebuild the base
  • Checking your USB cables
  • Send it for repairs
  • Go to more extensive options

Using the Menu option to exit PS4 Safe Mode normally

The safe mode has a menu option to restart the PlayStation in regular mode. Although “Restart PS4” might seem like it could reset your device’s memory, do not be afraid because it will not. Following these steps will only cause your PlayStation to turn off and, after a few moments, it will restart with a message that says, “Welcome back to PlayStation.”

  • Connect your controller to your PlayStation through the USB port.
  • Select the first menu option. It will be labelled as “Restart PS4.”

Updating your system software

If your PlayStation is not normally connected to the Internet or lost power/connection during the update, the lack of required updates can cause the console to collude. Within the ps4 Safe mode options, you will see some different options to update your system. We will see the more detailed options later, but for now, let’s look at the easiest one.

  1. Connect your PlayStation to the internet.
  2. Select “Update system software” in the ps4 Safe mode menu option.

If you do not have the means to connect your PlayStation to the internet:

Make sure you have 375 MB of free space on the USB device of your choice.

  • On the USB storage device, create a folder called “PS4”.
  • Inside that folder, create another folder called “UPDATE” (See above).
  • Download the update to a USB port from here and save it inside the “UPDATE” folder with the name “PS4UPDATE.PUP”
  • Connect the USB to one of its USB ports on your PlayStation.
  • Select “Update system software” in the ps4 Safe mode menu option.

Disconnecting the console

If your PlayStation is still starting in safe mode after selecting “Restart PS4” from the menu options, you should try to disconnect your system completely. The good solution of “unplug and plug it again” has a strange success rate.

  • Turn off your PlayStation correctly with the power button to avoid the error code “PlayStation did not shut down properly”.
  • Unplug the power cord from your console.
  • Leave it unplugged for 20 minutes.
  • Reconnect the cable and turn on your console.
  • If it is still loaded in ps4 Safe Mode, try using the “Restart PS4” menu option one more time.

Rebuild the base

This is the 5th option in the Fail-Safe Mode menu and it will scan your PS4’s hard drive to create a new database of all the content (games and applications) in the system. While this does not solve any hard drive problem for the system itself, any compromising information about a game or application that could be the source of your problems will be modified. None of your secure files will be compromised with this option.

  1. Connect your PlayStation to the internet.
  2. Select “Rebuild database” in the Safe mode menu.
  3. Leave the console alone, as this process will take a long time.

Check your USB cables

If your PS4 is not only starting in safe mode but does not allow you to navigate through the menu options, there is probably a hardware problem. Before doing anything, try changing your HDMI cables. Another PlayStation user encountered this terrible fate and discovered that changing their cables allowed him to navigate through the menu to use the “Restart PS4” option and return to his normal start mode. Fortunately, you can find some perfect HDMI cables on Amazon for around $ 12.99.

Shipping on your PlayStation for repairs

Depending on your warranty, you may be completely covered by the solution or have to dispense some cash to repair your console. Unfortunately, unless you’re willing to go ahead and try to initialize your PlayStation (eliminating all your data), this is your last option. Resending the console means that experts can analyze the problems and, hopefully, repair them without compromising the data. Be sure to ask if they have a way to transfer your data to an external hard drive before testing anything since the options for doing it yourself will not be available in the ps4 Safe Mode menu options.

Initializing your PlayStation 4

safe mode

This is the last measurement option to get your PlayStation out of Safe Mode since both options will permanently remove all data and settings from your PS4 system.

This will permanently remove all data and settings from your PS4 system. To do this, select the option * Initialize PS4 “in the Safe Mode menu, you do not need to be connected to the Internet, but you must leave your PlayStation running for a long time without disturbances.

Initialize PS4 (Reinstall the system software)

This option will not only remove all user data but will also remove the PS4 firmware. This will make your PlayStation start from scratch so you can re-install all the firmware with a new device. This will permanently remove all data and settings from your PS4 system.

  1. On the USB storage device, create a folder called “PS4”.
  2. Inside that folder, create another folder called “UPDATE” (See above).
  3. Download the update to a USB port from here and save it inside the “UPDATE” folder with the name “PS4UPDATE.PUP”
  4. Connect the USB to one of its USB ports on your PlayStation.
  5. Select “Initialize PS4 (Reinstall the system software)” in the ps4 Safe Mode menu option.
