Most BMW fans have been waiting in advance for the upcoming BMW 8 Series. After we learned that the 6 Series Coupe would be no more, we learned that the 8 Series Coupe would take its place and act as a Flagship possible for the brand. This enthused the fan base, as BMW loyalists have been begging for a replacement for the 8 Series since the first generation ceased production. We have seen spy shots and renders of the next 8er but nothing definitive. However, some new photos have emerged that appear to be official renders of the concept car that will debut tomorrow.
May 25, we will be seeing the revelation of the BMW 8 Series concept. Although it will not be the final car prepared for production, it will be a very close concept that will remain faithful to the final design of the car, from what we have heard. And if these photos are something to pass, I think BMW fans are in a real pleasure.
Remember, these photos are of what will be a concept car, not a final production car. So the details will change and it will not be so flashy. But the main design issues and ideas will probably follow and that’s a very good thing. All proportions seem to be fine. The long, low-slung hood with aggressive headlights and large grilles give the front a very aggressive and aristocratic look. While headlights and massive grilles are mostly caricatures of what the final car will look like, the idea is there.
But it is in profile and from the rear three quarters where this series 8 really comes to life. The rear cover is short, with the driver apparently sitting just in front of the rear axle. This, combined with the long and low hood, give the seductive 8 series classic sports car looks. The way the rear legs stand out shows their rear-traction muscles and the Hofmeister Kink is in its most aggressive form yet. There is even a bit of duck spoiler in the back. The entire back design seems to show off your energy and grace. This is the sporty design of large BMW tour needed after the departure of the 6 Series Coupé. This already looks like it could be a faithful successor to the awesome original 8 Series.
We must remember that he is only a concept. However, from the spy photos, we have seen, the final production car will keep a lot of the same design elements. For example, we can see the ducktail on the back, the muscle taillights and the long, low-tilt bell for all the spy shots. So we can say that BMW has kept many of the concept designs intact.
Obviously, these concepts are caricatures of the real car, so take the massive grids and crossed squares with a grain of salt. But the proportions are the important part and look bang-on in these concept photos. If the final car brings these proportions to the road, most BMW fans will be very happy.
