Gionee M7 Power

This year seems to be the year of smartphones without bezel. Almost all brands seem in a hurry to launch their device without the bevel. Not to be outdone, Gionee has also joined this car with her M7 Power smartphone. The device has a large battery, one of its highlights, and on paper, most other specifications seem to be a business. And other specs seem to be good also on paper. With a price of Rs 16,999, is it a smartphone that is worth buying? But is it worth buying at the cost of Rs 16,999? Read the rest of our review to discover.

Gionee M7 Power is made of aluminum, and the front panel is dominated by the screen without bezel. The metal-clad body along with the edge-to-edge display gives it a futuristic look, but somehow, we were more impressed with its build quality than with its design. The diamond-like brightness on the smartphone’s textured back panel and thick edges make it look a little thick. If you like eye-catching gadgets, then maybe you want the look. However, we prefer, you may like it, but personally, we prefer phones that have a more minimalist look and feel, so the M7 Power did not leave a lasting impression.

The textured back panel of the Gionee M7 Power is not impressive for many reasons. For starters, the smartphone has three types of textures on the back: there is a glass strip on the top where you can find the rear camera and the LED flash; below is the shiny texture and finally, there is also a plastic material below that. You can not blame Gionee for putting a lot of effort into the design and appearance of the smartphone. However, the final result is somewhat mundane in some way. One thing we did not like about Gionee’s M7 Power is the textured back panel. First, the smartphone has three types of textures on its back. There is a glass strip on the top on which the rear camera and the LED flash are placed. Under the glossy surface, we mentioned before and below that it is a material similar to plastic. Although it seems that the company struggled to make the smartphone look good, the result seemed mundane.
This doesn’t mean that the brand has not been satisfied with the design and appearance. The build quality of M7 Power is robust and impressive, and also weighs 199 grams. With 8.6 mm edges, this is a slightly thicker looking smartphone compared to some others. If more compressed looking devices are what you prefer, then this is a good option to consider.
However, we must add that we were much more impressed by the built quality of the Gionee M7 Power. The smartphone comes with a reliable quality and feels heavy to hold on 199 grams. It is also quite thick compared to other smartphones with 8.6 mm edges. If you don’t like thin smartphones, you would like the device. The edges of the smartphone include a 3.5 mm jack, charging slot and speaker grills on the bottom, volume control buttons, and right ignition and SIM tray on the left.

The front panel is still dominated by the 6-inch HD + screen of the smartphone. Colors saturate a bit, but in general, it is consistent at different viewing angles. Using the smartphone in direct sunlight was not a problem either. Gionee M7 Power comes with an 18: 9 aspect ratio that makes watching videos and other media a pleasant experience. The on-screen navigation keys also work well. The screen of the M7 Power is probably satisfactory. We found that the screen is decent. The colors were a bit saturated, but they remained consistent at different viewing angles. The readability of sunlight was not a problem, something we consider a plus. Thanks to the 18:9 aspect ratio, watching videos and multimedia was a good experience. The screen also had navigation keys on the screen. In addition to the screen, the front panel also houses the headset and the selfie camera of the smartphone.

The Gionee M7 Power smartphone runs the Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with the Amigo 5.0 skin at the top. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core 1.4 GHz processor paired with 4 GB of RAM. For storage, it offers a 64 GB ROM and supports for microSD cards up to 256 GB. For imaging tasks, the smartphone comes with a 13MP camera on the back with an aperture of f / 2.0 and an 8MP camera with an aperture of f / 2.2. The device contains a 5000 mAh battery with fast charge, and the device offers VoLTE, 4G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC as connectivity options.

Speaking of the smartphone’s user interface, Gionee M7 Power comes with customizations. For example, the application icons are different from other Android devices, the Configuration Shortcuts setting in the notification panel is modified, and the smartphone has a series of pre-installed applications. These include Flipkart, UC NEs, Truecaller, Gaana, TouchPal, GStore and more. It also has a set of games like Danger Dash, Kingdoms, Bubble Bash 3, etc. But if you do not find these applications useful, you will not have problems to uninstall them.
There was no complaint on our side when it comes to the performance of the smartphone. It took care of almost all routine tasks, such as starting and changing applications or doing various tasks in Chrome without stuttering or delays. The initiation and switching between apps were not a problem either. Using multiple Chrome tabs was not a problem either. In general, daily tasks do not face any delay.

Multi-tasking is also handled by Gionee M7 Power to perfection. Other multitasking operations such as listening to music while browsing or playing games were treated without problems. The smartphone offers a uniform and uniform performance when performing any type of task that you assign. Surfing the Web or social media applications is natural and you will not have any complaints.
The largest USP of the device is the battery that comes. The 5000mAH battery lasted two days with a single charge. You can perform all kinds of tasks on your smartphone (games, music, social networks) and the battery still lasts about two days. Without a doubt, it is one of the most impressive features of the Gionee M7 Power. Whether you’re playing music while using the navigation or playing games, your smartphone took it pretty well. You can surf the Internet or use social media applications such as Facebook and Instagram, but the performance of the smartphone will remain uniform and uniform. Cell phone reception was good most of the time, even in areas such as basements and elevators.

If the duration of the battery impressed us, the optics disappointed. The main 13MP camera is almost reasonable. In conditions of good lighting, the images were satisfactory, but they walk in low light conditions and hesitate. The reproduction of color is not particularly good, either in any lighting conditions. The clarity and sharpness of the images suffer greatly in the Gionee M7 Power. While the bokeh effect could be the buzzword for most cameras these days, Gionee M7 Power comes with 3D effect.
The front camera does a better job than the back, but there are a lot of other smartphones that work much better than the Gionee M7 Power. The cameras are probably not the reason to buy this device. The battery of the smartphone is perhaps the most important reason to buy it. The 5000 mAh battery usually lasted two days on a single charge. Use your smartphone to watch videos, play games listening to music and stay updated with various applications of social networks like Facebook and Instagram. It will still last two days on a single charge. We were impressed by the life of the Gionee M7 Power battery.

However, the optics were a bit disappointing. The main 13MP camera does a decent job. The images taken in good lighting conditions were satisfactory, but in low light conditions, hesitates a little. But we noticed a difference in color reproduction. They were not accurate most of the time, whether it was well lit or in low light. The clarity and sharpness of the images were not up to the mark either. Unlike most other camera-centric smartphones that come with Bokeh effect, Gionee M7 Power has a 3D effect.

The front camera does a better job, but there are other smartphones focused on cameras like Honor 9i that work better in regards to this aspect. We did some comparative tests on Gionee M7 Power and obtained 45825 in Antutu and 680 and 2614 in Geekbench 4 single core and multicore scores.

It is a little complicated to categorize the Gionee M7 Power. When it comes to sturdy, smartphones, this is a solid smartphone. Add to this the excellent battery life with reliable overall performance and Gionee M7 Power is not a bad bet. Disappointing cameras and fairly mundane design are features that can easily alter your decision to buy, as there are better options, for example, Xperia XZ1, available in the market. And that may be the biggest obstacle that Gionee will end up with. In the price range just above Rs 15,000, there are smartphones that offer better specifications and are better interpreters of all time. If the battery is a decisive factor for you, opt for the Gionee M7 Power. However, if you are looking for a complete package, this might not be the smartphone for you. If you are looking for a rugged smartphone that has good battery life and incredible battery life, you can opt for the Gionee M7 Power. However, you can find other smartphones in the midrange segment that have better performance. The recently released Redmi Y1 comes with better viewing and experience with the camera.
