5 Ways To Fix “No Directx 10 or 11 adapter or runtime found” error

directx 10 or 11

The error message “No Directx 10 or 11 adapters or runtime found” is one that occasionally appears for some players of Grand Theft Auto 5. When they start GTA 5, the game returns this error message: “No adapter found Directx 10 or 11 or runtime – Install the latest Directx runtime or install a compatible Directx 10 or 11 video card. “As a result, GTA 5 does not run when that error message appears. If that sounds like a family problem, this is the way to fix it.

No Directx 10 or 11 adapter found fixes

  1. Verify that your graphics card supports DirectX 10 or 11
  2. Change TruePlay in
  3. Uninstall the D3D Gear software
  4. Turn off the game bar
  5. Update the graphics card driver

1. Verify that your graphics card supports DirectX 10 or 11

First, verify that your graphics card is compatible with DirectX 10 or 11. If your video card is only compatible with DirectX 9 or less, then GTA 5 will not work. Then, you may need a new video card. You can check the DirectX compatibility of a graphics card in the following way.

  • Press the Win + R key to open the execution.
  • Enter ‘dxdiag’ in Run and click OK to open the window directly below.

  • Now click on the Display tab.
  • Verify the Direct3D DDI detail highlighted in the snapshot directly below. That should have a value of at least 10 (for DirectX 10), and if it is lower, you probably need a new graphics card compatible with DirectX 11.

2. Turn on TruePlay

If your graphics card is compatible with DirectX 11, activate the TruePlay configuration. Microsoft has not made it completely clear what this configuration is supposed to do, but some have discovered that changing the configuration can correct the DirectX runtime error. The TruePlay configuration details do indicate, “By turning this off you can limit the games you can play.” This is how you can adjust that option in Windows 10.

  • First, press the Cortana button on your taskbar to open the search box.
  • Enter ‘TruePlay’ in the Cortana search box and select TruePlay. That will open the window in the plane directly below.

  • Now click on the TruePlay settings to activate it.

3. Uninstall the D3D Gear software

D3D Gear is a software that records games. Some players of Grand Theft Auto 5 have solved the problem of the DirectX runtime by uninstalling that software. If you have D3D Gear installed, this is how you can delete that program.

  • Press the Win + X key and then select Run from the Win + X menu.
  • Input ‘appwiz.cpl’ in the Run text box and click on the OK button. Now select the D3D Gear software listed in the window that is displayed directly below.
  • Press the Uninstall / Change button.

  • Click Yes to confirm that you need to remove D3D Gear from Windows.

4. Deactivate the game bar

The Windows 10 update versions also include the game bar and the game’s DVR recording options. Disconnecting the game bar could also help solve the DirectX runtime problem. This is how you can remove the Game bar in Windows 10.

  • Open the Cortana application.
  • Enter ‘Game bar’ in the Cortana search box and click on the OK button.
  • Select Control how the game bar opens and recognize your game to open the window that appears directly below.
  • Alternate the clips of the game of Recording, screen captures and the emission using the bar of games deactivated if it is activated at the moment.
  • Also, click on Game DVR and deactivate the Record option in the background.

5. Update the graphics card driver

The reinstallation of graphics card drivers has corrected the DirectX runtime error for some players of Grand Theft Auto 5. There are just a few ways in which you can reinstall a video card driver. Your best option is to get the most up-to-date graphics card driver from the manufacturer’s website to make sure you have the most recent and then install that driver.
